SPARSE is a sub-group of a Special Interest Group of the Local Government Association, representing 117 local authorities in membership. All local authorities in membership deliver rural services, with SPARSE seeking to represent the views and needs of those living in rural areas on local government financial issues. SPARSE works closely alongside the Rural Fair Share Group in the House of Commons in order to give rural local authorities a platformed voice inside Parliament and to ensure that these authorities are not underfunded simply due to the nature of their area.
